While we achieve optimum productivity out of all our rigs, including seventh-generation models, our commitment to constant improvement dictates we continue to offer the latest in drilling rig technology. It was this philosophy that brought the first jackup, drillship, and dual-activity drillship, just to name a few of our innovations that became industry standards.

Next generation drillships

The two eighth-generation drillships we recently put to sea—Tor Drilling Titan and Tor Drilling Atlas—were designed to deliver outstanding performance for our customers. Both operating in the UK North Sea, they are the first rigs in the world equipped with a 1,700-ton hoisting system, 20,000-psi well control system, and 10,000-psi mud system. The increased hook-load capacity of these rigs reduces well-construction time, while the HPHT (High Pressure/High Temperature) well-control system unlocks previously inaccessible reservoirs. Drilling and energy-efficiency features on the Titan and Atlas optimize fuel consumption and overall energy use per well. As the newest and most technically capable vessels in our fleet, these rigs will help us push the industry forward.
